About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial and Contract Lawyer to work with us on a flexible, project-by-project basis. This is a hands-on, autonomous role best suited for a lawyer who is tired of traditional law firm structures and is ready to deliver high-quality, commercial advice directly to growth businesses. You'll be responsible for providing non-reserved legal services, primarily focused on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements for our diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Drafting & Review: Independently drafting robust, clear, and commercially sensible B2B and B2C contracts, and reviewing client-provided contracts.
Negotiation: Leading and advising on contract negotiations to protect our clients' interests while maintaining commercial relationships.
Advisory: Providing practical and actionable legal advice on contract interpretation, risk mitigation, and general commercial law matters.
Client Management: Managing your designated projects effectively, hitting agreed-upon deadlines, and communicating clearly with both the Clause Two team and end client.
This is a self-employed role; you control your schedule and your workload, partnering with us to deliver modern legal solutions.
Requirements
Substantial Post-Qualification Experience (PQE): Substantial PQE with a focus on non-reserved commercial and contract law matters (e.g., in-house, private practice, or similar consultancy). We need someone who can hit the ground running.
Deep Commercial Acumen: Proven experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on a broad range of complex B2B commercial contracts (supply, services, licensing, partnership, SaaS, etc.).
Self-Employed Status: Must be willing and able to work on a self-employed, contract basis and manage their own tax and NI affairs.
Client-Facing Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, human language for business owners and non-legal teams.
